Clearing Your Cache in CrashPlan PROe

Step 1. Stop the CrashPlan service.

  1. Open the CrashPlan app.
  2. If necessary, sign in to your account.
  3. Use the keyboard shortcut for your operating system:
    • Windows: Ctrl+Shift+C
    • OS X: Option+Command+C
    • Linux: Ctrl+Shift+C
  4. The CrashPlan command-line area opens.
  5. Enter this command: 
  6. shutdown
  7. Press Enter.

Step 2. Navigate to the cache directory for your operating system:

  • Windows 7
  • Windows 8, 8.1 (in desktop mode)
  • Windows 10
  • Server 2008/2012 (excludes Windows Server Essentials, Windows Small Business Server, and Windows Home Server)
  • Java JRE 1.7.0_80 (packaged with the CrashPlan app)

Mac OS X

  • 1 GHz 64-bit Intel CPU
  • 1 GB Memory
  • 450 MB free drive space

CrashPlan PROe is meant to protect laptops and desktops over any internet connection, for faculty and staff within the Clark School of Engineering and the College of Mathematics and Natural Science. The CrashPlan PROe backup is intended to provide a measure of security when files are accidentally deleted, a hardware component fails, or a computer is lost or stolen.
