Configuration of CrashPlan PROe

Configuration of CrashPlanThe default client configuration is sufficient for most users. The default configuration will back up only user data. No system data will be backed up. In some cases, users may wish to modify settings to fit specific needs. For advanced options used to modify the client settings, see the CrashPlan PROe client settings documentation. However, some settings, like encryption and authentication, are mandatory.

Some file types are always excluded from the CrashPlan PROe backup, such as caches, files from your network drives, and various system files. Please note that files and directories that have been marked for exclusion by EIT Administrative staff cannot be overridden by end users. You may add to the list of filenames or file types to be excluded. See the CrashPlan PROe documentation for default exclusions.

If you do not want certain files backed up, they can be placed in a folder entitled, _NoBackup. CrashPlan PROe will ignore the contents of this folder.

Lastly, CrashPlan PROe can be configured to add a second destination for your backup. For example, you could choose to attach a portable hard drive or another device running CrashPlan PROe.
