About VCL

The Virtual Computer Lab (VCL) allows faculty and students to use software applications remotely without having to download software onto a personal computer.

The system consists of an application server farm of Dell PowerEdge servers, along with supporting virtual machines for the web interface, licensing, and system monitoring. This system includes multiple nVidia GPU's for graphically intensive applications.  Storage is provided by local resources or to cloud providers through Indiana University's Kumo Project.  The system serves applications from Citrix XenDesktop (version 7.6) on top of Windows Server operating system. The Citrix software on the client machine sends mouse clicks and keyboard activity to the server for processing, and screen updates are returned.
