In his Fall 2011 message to the campus community, Dr. Loh lauds the University of Maryland for being "a dynamic place where 35,000 students and 8,000 faculty and staff learn and teach every day. There is simply no other place that can match the compelling environment we have here in College Park [...]  Where else can you witness groundbreaking research on the inner workings of the brain, outstanding athletics, student entrepreneurs working on the next great business, and inspiring artistic performances, all within a few steps of one another?"
