New Login Screen

In June and July 2012, the Division of IT will be upgrading the Exchange system and all Exchange accounts to run on Exchange 2010 rather than the current Exchange 2007 system.

The upgrade is expected to result in the following benefits:

  • Larger account quota -- up to 5 GB
  • Larger quota increases -- 750 MB per increase compared to the current 200 MB
  • Improved performance and reliability
  • Better performance on mobile devices
  • Full-featured Web access no matter which supported operating system or Web browser you use

Exchange Outage and New Web Login Screen -- June 23, 2012

To begin the system upgrade, there will be an Exchange outage on Saturday, June 23, 2012 from midnight until approximately 4 a.m. During that time, you will not be able to access your Exchange email or calendar. Email sent to Exchange accounts during the outage will be queued, and it will be delivered after service resumes.

After the outage, the Outlook Web login page at www.email.umd.edu will look different. A preview of the new login screen is pictured above.
